Internationalization and International Studies

Universities and schools are exposed to the dynamics of globalization and international education. Universities of Teacher Education are concerned with the implementation and critical reception of international educational standards and pursue international trends in education, such as the digitalization of education and research, or the claim to concentrate more on the local area while at the same time adapting learning to highly mobile population groups.

For this reason, UTE Lucerne is committed to integrating the institution and its members into international knowledge spaces, collective learning, free circulation of knowledge, sustainable networking, exchanges with institutions from the Global South and global and socio-spatial learning. International Studies contribute to global and socio-spatial learning, international development projects and research on mobilities of education.

The Executive Department of International Relations, Mobility and Cooperation is responsible for the development and implementation of the internationalization strategy. Internationalization of PH Lucerne is not reduced to target orientation, but is developed along the lines of relational internationalization. Internationalization is therefore working on participation in supra -regional knowledge spaces and knowledge circulation processes. Internationalization thus serves:

1. Institutional and collective learning, knowledge diversification and free circulation of knowledge
2. The integration of the institution and its members into international knowledge spaces
3. The development of specific competencies (intercultural competence, differentiation competence) as well as the development of global experiences (global learning)
4. Promoting foreign language competence
5. Networking, cooperation and socio-spatial learning
6.  To promote the development of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) within the framework of cooperation with the institutions of the Global South
7. The exploration of educational globalization as well as global learning at university school level
8. The enhancement of the attractiveness of UTE Lucerne for employees and students
